Anyone returned to nursing and regretted it?

Have just finished the course after more than a decade out.
Have been working on a elderly rehab ward for nearly 2 yrs as HCA.

It is such hard work ,have finally finished the course and am awaiting my PIN to start as staff nurse.

After finished a gruelling late shift ..I really don't know if I've done the right thing.
I want a nice nursing job.

Who likes their job? And what area of nursing are you in?

I do telephone triage. It's ok, very flexible hours and no lates followed by earlies. Get away on time. The money is pretty good and sometimes it's interesting.

I would rather be doing hands on stuff but would not be able to do the hours I need for childcare basically. No prospects for promotion though.

Is it NHS direct you work for?

I quite fancy trying for a job in A&E .

Did you have special training for that?

CAT me for more details

A & E jobs vary, some places want you to have recent experience eg on a ward, but you don't need a specific course for an entry level job.

Triage roles generally want experience of several areas of nursing and recent team leader type role as they want someone reasonably confident to make decisions, educate and explain to patients, and general understanding of how the system works.
