DH's company will probably be bought by another - how does this affect him in terms of contract, length of service etc?

It's looking likely that DH's company will be bought by another company pretty soon. If it is, will he sign a new contract, or will his current one still apply? Can they change the terms and conditions, notice period for example? And what about length of service, as I think (from reading MN!) that he has fewer rights if he is an employee of less than one year, which he would be for this new company, than if he were a longer standing employee, which he is of his current company IYSWIM?

Any info much appreciated.

Employees are protected under TUPE when their employer is taken over which means they retain the same rights and contractual benefits as they had in their original company. More info here
