Dh has been made redundant - cv help needed!

Just wondering if there is anybody who could give my dh's cv a once over? He came home this morning having been made redundant, bit of a bummer as he's only been there 5 months, left his last job for more money, typical!

I'd happily do this, but I'm not a professional at it. However, I used to run recruitment for a unit that went from 10 people to 60 in 2 years, so I've seen and judged a lot of CVs. But maybe best to go for somebody in the same field as your dh.

But CAT me if you like. NB I won't see the email until end of today.

Another question, should he say he's been made redundant or not volunteer the information? We're not sure if it sounds bad or not!

I have worked in recruitment for the past 6 years, although in legal sector. I am going away as of end of today though....
I will have a look and see if I can find anything on CV preparation/Interview technique and I'll CAT you with them....
I would mention in covering letter about the redundancy, it isn't anything to be ashamed of and it will stop people instantly dismissing his CV due to short length of current employment...

Um, sorry to give alternative view but my own choice would be to leave redundancy out of the covering letter but make sure there is a 'reason for leaving' for each job on the CV. Covering letter in my view shoudl be all about the job he is applying for.

Just shows there's no one way to do a good CV. I'll still give you my go though!

OOps, Acnebride I haven't prepared a CV/Covering letter for at least 20 mths now so will bow to you!
That was why I was offering our inhouse CV Prep document as was scared I'd do the wrong thing!

NOOOO, am deffo not any kind of guru on this, it is quite personal like any other letter to an individual, what one recruiter will love another will think is a bit off. I don't want to read much in the covering letter except 'I'm chomping at the bit to do this job, fly me' but that may be because I used to read application forms including a long freeform question about why they wanted the job. Anyway.

AAh, we just sent a covering letter, and an applicant profile with the CV...agree about keeping it all as succinct as poss......which was a v big problem for me as I tend to run off at the mouth!
