where do i look to find a job please?

ive looked at the jobcentreplus website, and last year when i looked there were lots of further education colleges needing teachers, but now i am looking and there arent any. only cleaning jobs available. there is one great job, but is too little money really.
where else cani look please. i have never ever looked for a job online before, so please be gentle.(am quite elderly )

is it teaching you are after specifically?

Have you tried putting your Cv on Monster or similar site? I got the job which led to this job (IYSWIM) via Monster - an agency picked up my CV, arranged the interview etc

Can you elaborate on why the one great job is too little money? Do you have childcare expenses, etc to cover if you are working, or do you simply think the job should pay more?

When were you last employed?

I'd try the local authority websites, as someone else suggested, these seem to still have quiet a good variety and number of jobs on them.

LOL, custy, as ever, you are right. i'm not really elderly, just feel it now that am supposed to be competing with kids that look same age as ds.

i trained to be a teacher yonks ago, but dont want to go back to teaching in schools. i do not want the responsibilty/aggravation etc. EB i always dreamed, whilst teaching, of being a science technician in a school lab. the fact that one of the technicians in one of the schools i did a teaching placement was a DR andmmore qualified than everyone else put together, but a wonderufl person too, and was doing it coz of her kids, alwyas meant that i knew it was a viable choice for me. but i dont really want to be working 37 hours a week, for much much less than i earned as an nqt decades ago. ( perhaps the process of job searching will knock the arrogance out of me?) but i am going to apply for it.

EB i currently, and have done for the last two years, work as an administrator for a small charity, part time, but before that, had a seven year period in which i didnt have any paid employment, just lots of babies. ive also done loads of volunteer work, so i am hopeful that i am not completely out of touch, iyswim

You could try asking your local school where they advertise. For example, all the school jobs in my local area (Cambs) come up here www.epm.co.uk

Try your newspaper website too, they usually are linked to a jobs site specific to your area.

Ok I understand.

It could be worthwhile to pursue the job that seems 'really good', and ask about the pay rise structure.

Or, perhaps working for not much money could put you in a better position to move to another job that pays better?

I know there are not many jobs going at the moment but have always been told it is far easier to get a job when you already have a job, iyswim. Maybe the good job could be a foot in the door? An investment in the future?
