Redundancy rant

I have known for a while that my job is at risk and deferred the consultation process until the end of my maternity leave. Somehow I accepted the fact that I don't have a job to come back to and was quite looking forward to being a stay at home mum. Stupidly, I had assumed that I would just go to the office and be handed my notice, now they are making a lot of people redundant and have a consultation period of three months. Which means not only that I have to go back to work for at least three months but that I have to find childcare and grind my teeth for weeks in the office where everybody knows that I will be made redundant... Really just a rant.

Just a thought, but will they consider giving you unpaid parental leave for those 3 months? Given they are likely to make you redundant anyway?
