Volunteering?

Returning to full time work as a mum is tough, it can seem like there just aren't enough hours in the day. Has anyone thought about doing any voluntary work? Now that the kids are back to school or nursery, a role like this can be an ideal way to spend a few hours a week. What's more, if you do decide to return to work, a voluntary role will look great on your CV. Hertfordshire Constabulary have some interesting opportunities at the moment. You can find out more on their website:

Credit Unions are also always looking for volunteers.

Short hours, flexible working conditions and ethical to boot!

I used my work experience at the local CU when a single mother to demonstrate that I had acquired office skills; used to working as part of a team -all the things that employers like to see evidence of.

The experience gave me confidence to return to the workforce.
