applying for learning support teaching post in independent sector

I am thinking of applying for a Learning Support teaching post in a prep school. I've been out of the loop while being SAHM with dd. Could anyone tell me about their experience of what a learning support dept does for their child at prep school. I'm particularly interested in dyslexia, and would like to know about teaching methods, computer programmes that are useful etc.
Thanks for taking time to read this.

ds has an IEP . One to one sessions are tailored to his weaknesses ie handwriting and spelling, touchtyping (Touch liaises with teachers and advises us as and when. Other LSA's hear reading and support individual children in the classroom.
