Thats it really. I have emailed it and written my name in where it asks for a signature; should I send a hard copy in the post as well?

Sometimes they would ask you to sign it if/when you go for interview. Did they advert say they accepted emailed applications? If so, I don't think you need to send it as well. If not, I would.
Good luck!

thanks Iggi999. It did say that the application could be emailed. DH thought it would have to be printed, signed and scanned then sent which I thought was a bit ott

It is totally fine, sometimes there is a box to tick to say you agree to conditions. The NHS and govt agencies all use on line applications without signatures.

Good luck anyway
