HELP full with guilt need a job at home

HI
i feel so depressed at the moment have got a DD 5 months and need to go back to work soon need the money! REALLY do not want to leave my little girl just need to find a job i can do at home but what? keep looking in the papers nothing feel so down i know everyone feels different but i cant leave her help me please

Do you have a dh? We solved problem by dh working nights and we split childcare between us.

Are you any way artistic? Before Christmas I started doing childrens parties as a clown. I managed to learn face painting, balloon modelling, and juggling. I work at the week-ends mostly, when dh is home, and make as much as I was, doing part-time work, without the childcare costs, or guilt.

DO you have secretarial skills? Some businesses use 'freelance' typists - I think you work for an agency who send you the work to type up.

What sort of jobs have you done before - ie what are your skills?

I've landed up doing project work with my former employer, filling in as an "expert" in my particular field, and I can do most of this by email at night. But I'm lucky in that I can build on my previous experience.

I'm not saying that it is not worth doing at all, just if you need cash there will be better ways of getting it! I think that it takes a ciupke of months to get anything at all, and it often seems to be vouchers.

Mystery shopping always struck me as an easy bet, but you need to be somewhere where it isn't already very popular (so London is out!). What seems to happen is that the companies are looking for people to help refill stock.

Have just looked into it a bit actually and your right thanks for the advice. my job is open to go back 2 days a week in the nursery so i think that looks the best bet! thanks everyone for sparing the time thought it would be easy to go back how wrong could i be!!

Angie - have you definately decided you want to be at home full time? I'm pretty sure that employment law these days says employers should allow jobs to be done job share or part time wherever possible? If that is something you'd want it might be worth asking about?

I work FT & I know it's not for everyone but I find it easier cos DP is at home 2.5 days so the kids are only in nursery the other 2.5 days.

It's my 1st day back tomorrow & my dd is 5 months too. Is your dd your first baby?

Yeah is my first baby think thats half the problem!! Really do not wanna go back no, but i work in a nursery and they are being really good about it and will let me have a job share. That is really good and my mother in law will have my DD so it is looking like the most likely thing that i will do. Besides i know it will be hard but maybe in the long term will do me and my DD some good being with other people as well.
Good luck with going back to work, by the way is this your first child?

Hi Angie. Well I survived my first day at work! It was really ok, but like I've hinted at in previous posts, I know that work is the right choice for me. I was quite excited about going back! Sad eh?

To answer your question, nope, this is my 2nd babe which I'm sure is why I've been quite chilled about it. DD is going to the same nursery that DS has been at for last 3.5 years and so I know all the staff there and they no me. That has been has massive factor in helping me feel relaxed about how she'll be looked after.

It sounds like you have a good solution - doing job share and having your dd with MIL the rest of the time. Only you will know how you feel though so I would give it a few weeks and then listen to your heart. You'll know whether or not work is right for you. My guess is you and you DD will both be fine though! Good luck
