Part time work and holiday pay?

Hello,

I work part time- currently 1 day a week. My contract says I am entitled to no holiday but 4 days a year off unpaid. Is this allowed?

Thanks in advance!

Don't think so! The Working Time Regulations entitle a worker (whether employee or temp) to 28 days off a year. That should be prorated, so you should get 5 and a bit days off a year and that should be paid.

Good luck.

Check out Direct.Gov website.

See here about basic holiday entitlement. Everyone is entitled to at least 5.6 weeks paid holiday a year, so as you work 1 day a week, that would be 5.6 paid days off.

oh thank you for your advice. I have already been to management who said because it was in my contract that I didn't get paid holidays I wouldn't. Was just wondering if I had actual legal rights!

Absolutely you have legal rights, yes. They can put whatever they like in a contract, but if it does meet basic legal requirements it won't stand up.
