Went on interview recently (didn't get job/didn't want it as it happened!) and the HR woman took copies of loads of stuff - birth cert/NI card/passport plus all academic stuff. As I did not get the job, am I within my rights to request the copies back as they are hightly confidential? TIA

they will shred them.

I expect they will shred them as scottishmummy says - there's no reason for them to keep that information about someone who isn't working there.

If you are concerned, give the HR department a call and ask what is happening to the information you provided and request they shred the photocopies they took.
