a brief history:

My employer has called us in to announce it needs to make upto 20 redundancies out of a 170 workforce, they are offering voluntary redundancy in the 1st instance then it will go to compulsory. Apparently they dont have to comply to DTI regulations?

They have asked each department to go away and think of ways it can cost cut in order to save money and perhaps redundancies.

Today it has come out that 1 department has to lose 1 member of staff, on this basis they all have to re-apply for their jobs.

I am right in thinking that EVERYONE in the organisation should be entitled to apply for those jobs? Not just those in that department.

hope i am making sense...

I think it depends on how similar the posts are, but I don't know about this not complying with DTI regs business - sounds dodgy.

Have you looked at the DTI website ?
