who would employ me?

i must work from home, this is my only option.
my stupis idea of setting up in business ironing wont make ends meet or help us move on to a nicer house, so i need to find out who will employ people to work from home either full or part time.

i would appreciate anyones advice

What skills do you have? Obviously you can use a computer, what else? Time management, organisation, etc. How about being a virtual PA?

Why only from home?

was a manager in retail for 6 years prior to being a sahm and looked after various staff, advertising it etc.

have to work from home as have no one to help full days with DD and if i put her in childcare it wouldnt be worth me working

need to be earning good money so we can move out of this crappy area!

TBH I think some work from home schemes can be a bit dodgy and you should be careful.
There are the filling envelope jobs for a pittence an envelope or there are chat lines etc.
I agree with Aimsmum that usually homeworking is arranged after already being in work for a company.

I'd be interested to know any different though.

Can you not set up you ironing business at home?

There was a thread somewhere about working as a secretary from home - basically you approach companies in your local area with your services and your hourly rate (factor in things like electricity, etc) and you work for them - cheaper than a useless temp for them, and a better hourly rate than temping for you - plus you get to stay at home.

could oyu work in the evenings - I know someone on here works at Woolworths for 3 hours a night for some extra cash, 6pm-9pm. Or if you get a decent day time job the child tax credits will mean you can afford childcare, that's what they are there for

I work for a private company which is used by social services. The work is sesssional but plentiful IYKWIM.

You can pick and choose what you do. I work one day a week and will earn £100 min for it.

have lookd into the childcare and would have to work my ass off full time to get much help, but would still take up a huge chunk of wage

My dh was also a retail manager for a few years and then got his dream job in the city. However when dd came along (also have ds) we realised we couldnt afford childcare for two kids so he went back to the same store working as a night manager.

I work 3 days, will increase this to 4 and he works full time.

We have no childcare costs.

There are stacks of others working nights for the same reasons. The money is much better too.

not at all, id love to be able to bring in some much needed cash to my family, but things are difficult and i feel torn, which is why i need something from home so i can take care of dd too.

But no one else would be looking after dd. Only you and DH.

Hercules - we work it a bit like you in that dh works full time during the week and obviously I have the kids, I work in the evenings/weekend and dh has the kids. It's knackering but worth it.
