anyone work in nhs recruitment

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows how long recruitment process takes. I have an interview for admin post next week and have to give four weeks notice at work. Do not know if i need CRB clearance as no patient contact. I am hoping it will take a few months as would like some of summer hols off.

any ideas???

by the way, i have not got job and probably won't get it as loads of applicants, just thinking hypothetically

Hi, I worked in NHS recruitment a long time ago. Most posts require CRB - I know I did, and I'm not in a patient-facing role. In my experience CRB checks can drag on and on - hopefully long enough for you to have your summer holiday!
And if you're successful (you really shouldn't doubt yourself, you know!) I'm sure you can negotiate a later start date. Just pretend you're booked on the holiday of a lifetime or something!

i have done alot of recruitment in the nhs and we always advise that you do not hand in notice until crb is through. though we can take individuals once refs are back and occupational health cleared if they pass the POVA first (not called that now though, but its an additional check to see if your name is on a list as a risk to vulnerable adults) and then you are employed subject to the clear crb. this usually happens if they need a post filled quickly. that process can take as long as the refs take to get back as the POVA check can be done in 24-48hrs as its only an email.

also depending on what region you are in can depend on how long the crb takes, also how many addresses its checking and if they are in different counties. usually at this time of year crbs can take a while as the schools get priority because of september starts.
