Thinking of using a Teddies nursery for 2 mornings per week. Any advice, experience?

Yes I did and removed him after 8 weeks, too many agency staff, staff too young and toilets too smelly.

I too am thinking of using Teddies Nursery in Twickenham 3 days a week next year. However, I would like to also consider some other Nurseries in the Twickenham that will take from 6 months, but can't find any. Any ideas?

There is also Tic Toc nursery in Staines Rd, Twickenham, which has a very good reputation. My son goes to Teddies in Twickenham, and my neighbours' child goes to Tic Toc, and out of the 2 of them I would say that Tic Toc is better. There is a lot of staff turnover at Teddies, and manager turnover, and they are very keen on making as much money out of you as possible instead of trying to be as helpful as possible.

Thank you Tia, your advice is most helpful. I will check out Tic Toc.

hi, just a quick message to say that my son (who's 2yrs old) is currently at tic toc nursery on the staines rd, twickenham. Been there nearly a year now and he was a very clingy baby and hated the seperation in the mornings, but the girls have been wonderful. You get the feeling they really do care for the children and love and cuddle them lots. They're always busy doing things and are kept very stimulated (he must be so bored at home!). Would thoroughly recommend it.

Don't have anything positive to say about Teddies, friends have used them and very very unhappy. Stories about when you can/can't change nappies, can/can't sing nursery rhymes (have to do it at set times???), high staff turnover, young inexperienced staff doing it "by the book", local walks with staff actually involve window shopping ...

Am not being very positive, sorry. I guess it would depend on the age and experience of the staff in each individual nursery?

PrincessPeaHead · 12/07/2005 18:42

the teddies at chiswick riverside used to be famously awful. and a friend had a nanny who used to work there and who left within a month because she was so shocked by how little everyone cared about the children...
that was a few years ago now mind

ThePrisoner · 13/07/2005 19:29

So, mouli, now what?? We haven't been very positive!

henshake · 20/07/2005 22:14

We used a teddies nursery in Oldham. I've never known so many staff leave in such a short space of time.

DD now with some of staff that left that are at a new nursery and they love it and above all else, she loves it.

CiaoLeo · 22/07/2005 11:47

henshake.....I used to work at teddies! worked there from sept 2000 - sept 2001

CiaoLeo · 22/07/2005 11:47

was it the one owned by network nurseries?

henshake · 16/08/2005 20:22

ciaoleo - sorry didn't get back to this thread earlier.

Yes it was owned by network nurseries. Which of the Teddies did you work at?

The dates you were there were b4 my DD went, she wasn't born then.

littleredhen · 16/08/2005 20:50

I know this is an old post, but just wanted to update it incase any new parents have the same query. I used to work for Teddies nursery in Twickenham Staines road, they were horrendous, the children were underfed, were not cuddled the staff turnover was ridiculous! I was there 8 months, i was only 15 and often left in charge of up to 15 children under 2 with only a college student for help! So who watched the children whilst i changed nappies? Yes, that's right, the college student! Unqualified the same as me, and not CRB checked! In the time i was there, over 12 staff members left and may i also add, that the oldest was the manager of just 24 years old! Now although my experience was a few years ago now, last year my sister was offered a job there and in the 6 months she was there, 6 staff members left! It had not changed at all, and the manager was very on side with the bullies.

Twickenham day centre, and Whitton day centre are two fabulous nurseries! I have also heard very good things about Tic Tocs too.

Good luck to everyone facing the tough decision about nurseries! xx
