A funny one this one. I am due to start my mat leave next week with baby due the following week. Despite my employer knowing this since October the have only interviewed for my cover today. I was not asked to be involved in the recruitment process this time around and was informed this afternoon that they have appointed someone already known to my department. I worked with her last year and found her to be awkward and very very rude. So much so that two memebers of my staff have refused to be in the building with her and she made another so angry that he has refused to talk to her since.
I don't want to be difficult but I feel that I should let me boss know of the situation. Does anyone have any opinions? Should I raise this, or should I let my boss deal with the stress when I have gone?

Go on mat leave - enjoy it - and enjoy the warm welcome when you return.

It depends on your relationship with your boss. My boss is a friend so I would want to make him aware.

If not go off and leave your boss to deal with it.

Thanx, my boss isn't a friend, so I'm not particularly bothered about him, but my team I love. I think that I'm going to sleep on it.
