Bradford Index

My compay has just brought in the Bradford Index for sickness.

I had half a shift off with a migraine, and 3 hours off for a hospital appointment, and they have classed both "episodes" as full days absences making my cumulative total 4 points for May.

Is that right?

my employer uses the Bradford factor and medical apointments are not included as an absence in my organisation but you will need to check your employer's specific policy as it may vary.
However, I would say that the half shift has been correctly treated as an absence.

yes, bradford factor is about the instances of absence, ie: the disruption caused to the employer

i'm not sure they're using the actual bradford factor calculation though, which is daysXinstancesXinstances

We also use Bradford factor, but days which you work even part of the day are not counted as absence. However, if this is being abused, this privilege can be removed - however a person would be informed if this was the case.
