Referees?

I have been at home with my children for the last six years and I'm tentatively starting to apply for part-time work. I used to work for an investment bank and the roles I am applying for now are in a completely different industry. I'm a bit stumped when it comes to listing two referees, as my old boss from the bank has also left - do I still put her name, even though I am no longer in contact with her, or do I just list the HR department? Who would qualify as a second referee when I've spent the past six years at home with only two small children to appraise my performance...(and I'm not sure they'd be very generous)? Any advice welcome!

Put on your CV "References available on Request"
If you can contact your old boss to ask her if she would provide references if necessary then I would def do this. If not, HR and a personal referee. A friend in a professional position?

I am in your position as well and was going to put the HR dept of my last company down as one (I know they've kept a reference for me on file).

Have you done any voluntary work - at your DCs school or preschool? I've done various things for my children's preschool and am going to put the supervisor's name down as a 2nd referee.

Thanks for your replies - I do volunteer at my dd's school, so that's a really good idea, thanks.
