How much info do you put in a job ad?

It's a send your CV response so they won't get a job description until interview

So what do you put in

Eg they get free childcare for school age children, I want 6 saturdays/evenings for training/events, they get free food while they are at work

Or just standard hours/wage/duties?

I probably wouldn't include the food or childcare, but would mention "some Saturday and evening work required" as well as the general hours, as that might be a make-or-break for some people, and it's easier if they filter themselves out at the application stage. Other than that, I think people really just need to know the general hours/wages/duties so they can decide whether it's the sort of thing for them or not.

The sat/evening would be training or a conference or going to fetes to advertise our service

It isn't a deal breaker but would massively help out

I think putting it in at this stage gives people the chance to maybe contact you and ask how much of it there would be, or be aware they need to ask about it at interview. Maybe put it as "occasional Saturday and evening work likely"? Just to show it wouldn't be part of the usual pattern, and not put anyone off who is a good fit in other ways?

When I've applied for jobs, there usually hasn't been that much information in the ad, although I've worked for some bigger organisations where they send you out an information pack when you answer the ad, so you get a lot more detail. That's not something I've seen from smaller employers though, perhaps because they're more concerned to get the right person and can be flexible about some of the details.

This is a part time position working within a well-qualified team in a small and friendly childcare setting. Latest OFSTED grading: Outstanding.
Hours: Monday 8:00 ? 14:00, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 8:00 ? 13:00 with very occasional Saturday or Evening work. This post can be flexible and may occasionally need additional hours to cover sickness/holidays but would give as much notice of this as possible.

Applicants must be enthusiastic about working with children and also be able to assist with some administrative and accounting duties. There will be a comprehensive induction program and necessitates a CRB check which employer will arrange.

That sounds fine - I think it covers what they need to know and should encourage them to think it's a good post.

It's tricky - but I think it's quiet a nice job (apart from working with me )
