Please help me find a new career after redundancy

Help! I need a new career. I will be made redundant as a sub-editor in October.
It's a good long time for me to find a new job but I have a 1-year-old son and have been working Sundays, and Wednesday and Thursday nights so my partner can look after him and we don't have to pay for childcare - so it is going to be tricky. Obviously we will have to be more flexible.
The real problem is there is a crisis in journalism. I need a career change after 12 years but have no idea where to start.
Lovely Mumsnetters, please advise me on my new direction. Am feeling pretty shell-shocked even though it wasn't unexpected.

What sort of thing are you interested in? Do you have time to train? What about something voluntary?

Imagine you had no constraints at all - no financial worries, no childcare issues - what would you really, really love to do? Train as a trapeeze artist? Write music? Work with animals?

Can you use that as a starting point for researching new opportunities?
