First pay on SMP - when does it arrive in my bank account and from whom?

Hello,

I started mat leave on 14th April and am due on 5th May (ish).

I usually get paid on the last Friday of the month by my firm and wonder when I should expect the 90% SMP to hit my account and from whom it comes. Is it the Govt or the firm? Also is it weekly? Or 90% of my salary on the last Friday of the month?

How did you get yours?

Thanks in advance,

cfc x

Mine came from my employer, paid at the same time as my usual monthly pay.

It comes from your firm, and would normally be paid in the same way as your salary - if they normally run only a monthly payroll they will probably continue to do the same for you. Whoever does your payroll is best to advise you how it will work in your case.

In terms of the amount, it won't be exactly 90% of your salary as presumably your salary is monthly. SMP is a weekly amount, and there are not an even amount of weeks in a month, except February, and not the same amount of weeks in each month either, although presumably your monthly salary is the same each month. So it's possible it might vary very slightly month to month.
