Anyone got any tips for interview/presentation nerves?

I've got an interview tomorrow (2nd stage...I think I'm down to the last 2 or 3 candidates) and I have to do a presentation as part of the interview.

I'm feeling really nervous about it and have visions of it going hideously wrong.

Any tips for dealing with my nerves?

Of course you are feeling a bit nervous - it needs some of that nervous energy to make your presentation lively and exciting. But how can you change the visions you are having, from ones of it going wrong to ones of it going right?

Think about all the experiences that you have had where things have gone well and you have felt great (the moment they told you you got appointed to your last job; a time when someone said something really positive about you; your wedding day....) anything that makes you feel really good. Then everytime you have negative thought about the presentation, switch what you are thinking about to a positive but excited feeling.

I learnt a great breathing technique too, which was really calming. It is called "Ha breathing". You take a deep breath in through your nose (deep so that your tummy goes out rather than your chest and shoulders rising) counting to 3 as you do it. Then breathe out through an open mouth for a count of 6 (twice as long as you breathed in for). Say "Haaaa" at the same time as you breathe out. Do this 4 times.

Thanks. I often get panicky and people are always telling me to do deep breathing but I never seem to get the hang of it or it never works for me. I should practise.
