Timesheet missing, Will not be paid this month.

Can anyone help my friend? She works in the NHS as a bank healthcare assistant. She completed her timesheet at the end of March (her last shift was on a Saturday, the nurse bank is closed on a Saturday).

Nurse bank told her to slip her timesheet under the post room door on the Saturday, in order for it to be in on time.

Her timesheet has gone missing. She has been told to submit a new timesheet, but it will not be actioned on until later this month, so she will get no pay at the end of March.

Can they do this? They have no policy about where to put timesheets outside of office hours. They told her to put her timesheet under the post office door.

My friend is a student nurse, but works as a healthcare assistant in her spare time. She really needs the money. Also, they have told her if she demands a cheque, it will be counted as an advancement, and they will make her pay £50 to do it. That does not seem fair.

It's a bit harsh I agree. I expect their terms and conditions for payment are quite rigid, but if she submitted a timesheet in the manner she was instructed I would say she can rightly kick up a fuss. She has done what she was told and it's not fair to make her wait a whole month for payment.

Thanks flowery. Have told her I will go with her to the nurse bank and try and get them to change their minds.
