supply work and holiday pay?

As a supply worker, am I entitled to holiday pay?

I've been working at the company for 7 months and have not received a contract.

I think that if I brought up the idea of holiday pay with the owner, she would end my hours immediately, which I don't want to happen as I enjoy working there!

Or she would not give me hours for 12 weeks then end my employment so she would in effect no owe holiday pay.

Feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place, going to end up without a job or have to soldier on with no benefits.

(this is a newer job to one I've sought advice about in the past!)

I'm supply, I'm not contract, I don't get holiday pay or sick pay.

DP and I was discussing this the other day and he said I should be entitled to benefits in the 6 weeks holiday, Easter Hols etc. (had this been my only job).

I am employed, my payslip comes from them.

I know, mine comes from them as well, (well not the school , the local council, as that's who pays the TA's)

Yes, you are entitled to holiday pay.

When I did a bit of temping I got holiday pay with each job as a % on top of the rate agreed.

You need get a contract sorted out.

Everyone is entitled to holiday pay now. When I did some temping several years back working direct with the company, we agreed a rate per hour. Then in April I got a cheque for the holiday pay I was owed for the year end.

Yes you are entitled to holiday pay. I don't know enough about your situation to know how your employment would be classified, see here all about employment status, but even 'workers' (as opposed to employees) get holiday now.

Do you work very irregular or infrequent hours?

When you say 'supply' do you mean teaching or something else? If it's teaching, then I don't think you are entitled to holiday pay, as you are paid (more) for the actual individual days you work.
Dunno how it works in other spheres of work though.

I'm on minimum wage in a nursery.

Some weeks I work 40 hours, some weeks I work 12.

But generally I have hours each week.

You are definitely entitled to holiday pay, and a contract as well, or at least a written statement about your terms and conditions.

Don't know what to suggest about what to do about it though really. If you think you will just be let go if you raise the question of some of your employment rights that's a really tricky one.

By the way, if you are dismissed for trying to exercise a statutory right, such as holiday, that is automatically unfair dismissal. But I know that's easy to say and not necessarily the route you'd want to take.

I have just looked at my contract I DO ge tmpaid 4 weeks holiday. it says

1 week christmas
1 week Easter
2 weeks summer.

Its based pro rata according to the pattern of work.

It does state however I don't get sick pay
