I have 3 children. Two are teenagers (DS15&DS16),dd is 6.

Neither me or dp work and he has been claiming JSA for ages.

Am I right in thinking that when my dd turns 7 next month I will not be able to claim IS anymore and will have to claim JSA?

I have looked at direct.gov and I think that this will mean less money for me and my DP, is that correct?

I think instead of me being able to claim IS and DP being able to claim JSA we will have to claim JSA together which will mean less money is that right?

Are you claiming as a lone parent?

Comewhinewithme · 24/03/2009 11:44

You could try looking at entitled to and putting in your details that should tell you.

Mumcentreplus · 24/03/2009 11:45

The youngest child has to be 10 or over from the 26th October 2009...but that is just if you are claiming IS as a lone parent

Comewhinewithme · 24/03/2009 11:45

Hang on why are you claiming IS and he is on JSA ? If you are an unemployed couple he should claim jsa for you and him and you should also get ctc . .

DSM · 24/03/2009 11:46

You can claim until your child is 10.

I thought you could only claim income support as a single parent?

Mumcentreplus · 24/03/2009 11:47

If you partner makes a claim for you he would have to include any dependants the amount should not change that much.

Mumcentreplus · 24/03/2009 11:49

No there are other reasons a person can claim IS.
