Compulsary redundancy - consideration of other roles

Work in a large multinational telecoms company and the team I report to in US has been formally terminated. Am under risk of redundancy notice for UK employees. The policy says that the Company must consider me for suitable roles. Many of the roles I could perform are based out of different regions but canbe done remotely anyway. If I apply for these and I know my application has not even been considered do I have any rights or case against the company? The UK policy says that pay would normally be protected but the grade could change (this could be the issue then if I then come under a budget / headcount out of say Romania where wages are lower). Or do I just take the money and run??

How would you know and prove that your application had not even been considered? If they told you so specifically I presume?

if they did tell you that they would not consider you for these roles, their argument would probably be that roles based in different regions are not 'suitable'.

Presumably it is your own opinion that these roles in different regions could be done elsewhere, but there's no obligation for them to agree with that. By different regions do you mean abroad?

In these circumstances, if they did not want to consider you for roles based in other countries, I don't think you could have any claim of unfair dismissal as I think it would probably be perfectly reasonable of them to say those roles were not suitable for you.

What Flowery said I am afraid.

You do have the right to be considered for suitable alternative roles, but the company has the right to scope those roles. So if there are jobs in different regions, they have no obligation to think about making those remote working working roles and then consider you for that. It would be very different if you were saying "I would be willing to relocate to Romanian to do X vacancy."
