Have you registered with the HMRC for Money Laundering Regulation? If not, is it because you're covered under a professional body?

blimey didn't know anything about it tbh, they didn't mention it when I phoned up to register as self employed!

clumsymum · 19/03/2009 11:55

Yes I'm registered.

If you are a member of one of the institutes, you will be covered, but if not, you MUST register.

see this

I know, I wasn't aware until I was idly browing through VAT notes yesterday!

I've filled in my forms for the HMRC now and am looking to possibly complete my qualifications so I'll be covered by an institute.

I'm also planning to sit the Institue of Certified Bookkeepers exams, so I'll be covered by that next year.

It's just another thing to worry about (and pay for)

CarGirl · 19/03/2009 16:50

Fabulous more money to shell out when I'm not really earning the fee is now £95 and 1st June it goes up to £120. I'm really cross because I only registered as self employed in December as a book keeper and they didn't mention it to me, it only cost £50 then!

malfoy · 19/03/2009 19:38

what about Data protection legislation? does anybody know anything about that?

cktwo · 20/03/2009 16:55

Sorry no.

I'm pee-ed off because the Institute I qualified with isn't covered. How's that for bad luck? So I'll have to fork out £95 when I'm only working 5-8 hours a week.

CarGirl · 20/03/2009 18:58

cktwo · 21/03/2009 20:43
