Anyone heard of the Athena Network?

I've been approached by the athena network today, setting up in our area and invited to come along to their first lunch.

Does anyone belong to their local group?

"The Premier Networking organisation for Women in Business" apparently.

If it's what I think it is, it involves a lot of effort on your part.

I have a friend who's a member (if it is the same thing). She actually goes to breakfast meetings at 7am (!!). You have to go every week; you have to make a certain amount of contacts and then pass them on/share them at the meetings; you have to demonstrate what you've done every week to build up contacts
(a bit like WeightWatchers!). I'd say it's quite pressurised.

But this is all what I've heard, like I say I don't have any direct experience.

thanks squeaver

this is lunches as it's difficult for women to make breakfast meetings!

apparently they make contacts, develop business expertise and explore visionary ideas, there are workshops, courses, social events etc.

I'm hoping its more meeting and social as opposed to the passing on and sharing of contacts, hopefully someone else may have more advice.

AND it's £200 a year, which puts me off.
