Can I train at my daughters nursery ?

Hi, I have worked with adults with learning disabilities for 12 years now and have always wanted to work with children. I've decided that I'm definatly going to get some child care qualifications.
I've seen a job listed on the job centre website advertising a modern apprentership at a nursery. The problem is, you start at 8am to 6pm mon to fri and only get paid £80 per week. The money isn't that important to me as I'd be training but I'd hardly see my daughter.
She is at a fantastic nursery where I'd love to work. That would be my dream job.
I don't know if I should ask them if I can do it with them? If I could, then it'd be so much easier with child care and I'd probubly see her through out the day. What do you think? is it worth asking? I don't want to make a fool of myself.

One thing you have to check though is that most modern apprenticeships can only get funding up to age 24.

I have rung loads of nurseries offering these training schemes only to be told I am too old as they wouldn't be able to get funding for me.

Oh bugger, I'm 28. Do they consider us past it then?

They have recently rolled out Adult Apprenticeships but they are very very few and far between. I couldn't find one for me and even the job centre knew very little about them.

It is very frustrating and unfair.

I would't mind paying for my corse if I could get a paid work placement.

I've looked on my college web site and I could do an NVQ 3 with them but need a work placement for a minimum of 2 days a week. I could ask the nursery.
