Advice regarding part-time work

I have decided I MUST return to work as we are so broke at the moment. I am going to register with an employment agency today but I will only be able to do weekends or evenings as I have 2 pre-schoolers and childcare will be difficult. What I was wondering was is there a threshold re hours before tax is paid or how much can I earn before tax is paid? Does anyone know the current situation? TIA

And don't forget to make sure that you claim any back. If you are self-filer for the Revenue you should get money back quickly. If you do not already file your own returns, you will need to find out the tax office for your area and call them once you are working so that you don't miss out.
