How is maternity pay caluculated?

Hiya, just wondering how maternity pay is calculated. I know for 6 weeks you get 90% of your average pay, but how do you work out your average pay? What period is the average pay based on & does it include overtime? Thanks, Iona

The qualifying week is the 15th week before your ewc, the calculation period is the 8 weeks up to and including your qualifying week and yes it does include overtime/bonus etc.
