does anyone else work fulltime, hate their workplace, but need the money and doesn't know how to get out of it?

I do not want to go into details, but in my job I cannot just switch off because it involves looking after children.however, I hate my new workplace and want to go asap. I am under alot of stress at moment, no support from colleagues, do not know how to cope until I manage to find a new job.Do not think I could manage financially unless I have another job to go to.

Health is suffering, but do not want to get signed off sick as it would definitely affectfuture job applications, but I am not well.

Have no free time at home and can barely stay on top of work.

Howdoyou cope when money is the ONLY motivating factor in a job, yetyou are meant to be in a job which involves caring for others?

I was in a similar situation last year, although it sounds like a different type of job. I left the job, and it was the best decision I ever made. We have struggled financially, but emotionally and health-wise things are so much better. We've managed to economise like mad and the money wasn't as important as I'd thought it was. We reduced the amount we spent on childcare, food, bills, etc. and now we scrape by on about 30% of what we used to live on. But we're much happier. And probably healthier thanks to all the vegetable soup & porridge made with water we eat these days

How bad would it be financially? Can you get a stop-gap job in a less stressful situation - not necessarily the same area of work - just something to keep the wolf from the door while you reassess. You're posting messages on MN at 2 in the morning and sound like you're dreading going in to work, that's no way to live. Hope things improve for you soon anyway.
