Maternity Allowance and working

brightonlad · 09/02/2009 21:06

I am registered as self-employed and have been receiving Maternity Allowance for the past two months. I would like to carry on with one job which is for only 12 hours per month but I don't want to jeopardise the benefit. Does anyone know the rules on working while getting MA?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm afraid that you can only do 10 days work, which are considered 'keeping in touch days'. ANY work on ANY day counts as one of the keeping in touch days, so even one hour.

After that, you will lose MA for any day you work.
