I will have to return to work as soon as, have not written a cv for over 15 years. How do I 'explain/justify' what I have been doing as a SAHM. Tia.

Have you done any volunteer work?

What sector are you looking at working in? Public and voluntary sector tends to be more application based.

CV's play a very different role now than 15 years ago - they are now adapted to each specific job so you will need to highlight how you meet each of the essential skills/experience with your examples of work (Paid or otherwise) if that makes sense?

thank you for the reply, much appreciated, nothing happening with this on chat.

I have volunteered in local primary school, reading, craft, computerising library, this is all i have done since having children, feel very 'out of the market'.

Just write it up to when you went off then add your SAHM bit as a job. e.g

June 1996 - to present:

Career break to raise my family.

During this time I have also carried out the following voluntary positions......

Start your CV with a personal statement that says you are keen to re-enter paid employment. List your key skills e.g - I am an good team player with excellent communication skills. Tailor it to the job you are applying for.

I am more than happy for you to CAT me or email me on callmeovercautious at hot mail .com with it and I will give you an honest opinion. Just give me some detail about what job you are aiming for as well so I can give you some relevant feedback. Obviously leave out your name etc if you want
