Hello! Mumsnet Jobs team here. We've noticed this thread is fairly old now, and some of the information is out of date. We've put together this article of advice, tips and tricks to finding a job that will allow you to work within school hours. We hope it's helpful!

Hi, I am looking for employment which will fit in with School and am finding it really hard. Does anyone have any ideas or know of any companies that are flexible with hours for Working Mums? am looking for administration work but would consider any job if the hours were right?

Local Councils - both Borough and County. Most have a jobs website and it includes education based roles, local amenities and their main offices.

Friend of mine works p/t for the council and hours are 9.30-2.30 but has to rely on family, rellies and a combo of holiday entitlement to cover school hols.

School admin staff can just work term time

Teaching assistant

PA - another friend does 1 day in the office and the rest from home.

In this economic climate why limit your job search so much ?

Check out your school's after school/breakfast clubs and the associated holiday clubs or childminders. Some employers offer childcare voucher schemes so that you get tax relief (and pay no National Insurance) on chidcare payments.

I'm not suggesting full-time work, just being a bit more flexible could increase the number of opportunities available to you.
