It's interesting but what can I do with it?!

What is it? Sounds good anyway.

It's basically the study of language and how we use it (very simplistically!)

So why do certain people sound more convincing than others? Why are some headlines more attention grabbing? How do we know when someone might not be telling the truth from the language they're using?

No practical application unless I want to be a speech-writer.

i love this kind of stuff too but not very conducive to finding a job! i did languages at uni and where did it get me! do it for love anyway, not for your career, that's my advice
