Hi, is the 16 hrs per week rule spread throughout the year, ie 16 hrs x 5 days x 48 weeks? So what I am really asking is if I work full time for a number of weeks can I then have a number off weeks off without the tax credits being affected? I work for an agency and the work generally is full time for a week or more, I can do this for some time but not a whole year if you see what I mean?

My neighbour had similar they told her that the average must be at least 16 so if you work say:

10 weeks at 40 hours = 400 hours,
20 weeks at 18 hours = 360 hours,
5 weeks at 5 hours = 25 hours,
1 week at 7 hours = 7 hours,
1 week at 50 hours = 50 hours,
it totals 842 hours
if you divide by 52 weeks it averages 16.1 hours a week
