Bumping for you.

Do you get a train into central London and then need to travel by tube? If you have only a short journey (ie in Zone 1) then it would probably be cheaper to get a return to whichever London terminal you are travelling to and then use an Oyster card to travel the part to and from actual office. That's what I used to do anyway.

I did the same as Idris - by prebooking my train ticket and seat it only cost £12 return instead of £34. I used to use the tube but then changed to walking to work in the morning and got an oyster card in case I wanted to get the bus back in the evening.

After reading something by the money man
Can you - pre-book tickets - apparently you can even call up the night before to see if there are any reduced tickets for your journey.
Can you buy 2 cheaper tickets ie 2 singles for a lesser fee or break up your journey over 2 tickets ie split the journey buy a ticket from a-b then b-c - you don't even have to get off the train - just make sure the train stops there.

hmmmm wow. interesting I'm going to look all these options up now. I need to get to charing cross - go to embankment district line to Hammersmith (so I don't think oystercard might apply).
