Working as a cleaner

I'm considering this, but what would I do in the summer holidays, actually any school holidays? I couldn't take my kids with me as we'd leave more mess than when we arrived!

What do other mums with cleaners or cleaners themselves do?

I'd probably only work 4 - 6 hours a week.....just for some extra cash.

Is there anyone that could have them while you're working?

I used to have a cleaner and she bought her child with her- he was about 10 though- he just went around with his mum talking to her

nah, that's my problem - no help nearby!

when my Mum was a cleaner we'd go with her during the school holidays. We'd just sit and watch the TV while she got on with it. Don't know what age we were - 6 and 8 I think.

my cleaner has children the same age as mine and in the holidays they all play together (the eldest two are good friends anyway but don't go to the same school) so it works well. I think their mother has some sort of magic touch because the house is always tidy when she leaves whether or not the children have been here - the fact that we are unable to keep it that way is our fault not hers

when i had other peoples aupairs doing the cleaning for me, they couldnt work during the holidays, and it was just the way it was.
at the moment my cleaner is also a friend with kids the same age as my younger two. they just all get on and play and she works around them. and id rather that, than not have a cleaner at all.
depends on who you work for, whether they have kids. and generally whether they are easy going,m or uptight.
good luck

If I could take the kids it would be ideal, but I don't think I could cope with the stress!

I have been a cleaner and taken my 2 boys with me a couple of a times. I think it depends on what your kids are like and how nice your employer is
for me it was stressful as they were either bored or messing with stuff they shouldn't. I felt like i wasn't getting the job done properly really.
