E-mailing for info. on a job

Just composing an e-mail to ask for details about a job. Any hints regarding how much to say, or keep it very basic, (it is for a part-time secretary for a charity).

Also, and I know I should know this, but if you know the person's name should you address it to them or to Dear Madam. And, what is the correct sign off for madam, ie Dear Madam - yours faithfully, as I was taught, or has it changed?

Sorry for idiot questions but don't want to fall at the first hurdle. Not worked for 9 years so very nervous!!!!!!

Use their name and sign off 'sincerely'

Use 'madam' and sign off 'faithfully'

Thank you Ilboo, that's what I thought but sure I had read differently somewhere!! I really should have more faith in myself .

I've just double checked the letters we sent out to make sure

Right, e-mail gone. First little hurdle jumped. Thanks again.
