Hi, I am just wondering what the going rates are per hour for babysitting? Is it more for w/e's?
We have found someone we can trust and are going to take the plunge soon.....but I just want to know roughly what to expect!!!

we tend to use a friend's aupair a sbabysitter, so I think she's cheaper than professional ones, but we give her 5 pounds an hour.

good luck

we pay £4.00 an hour, but even if we only pop out for a couple of hours, we always pay her for three hours at least. We also offer to pay taxi fares home. If a taxi is not needed we add a few extra pounds anyway, and also round up the hours, so if she's there for 4.5 hours we pay her for 5 hours.

There have been other discussions on mumsnet about this - you might be able to find them is you do a search.

We pay £6 per hour, for weekdays or weekends, and either drive the babysitter home or pay for a taxi.
