It just can't, because I have to do it, I want to do it, I just feel so worried about it and that I might let everyone down in some way.

My friend was just like this with her new job a few months back. I would be just the same as well.

However, after her first initial day there, it is like she has been at this job forever and wonders why she ever worried!

Tis only natural for you to feel like this, but honestly, try and enjoy the rest of the holidays.

Thanks

I did promise myself that I'd not let it spoil the holidays but worrying about it is keeping me awake at night.

I just so hate low my confidence and self esteem is that it makes me feel like this about something that is a good thing for me.

I seem to think that you are a childminder! This can't be correct!

Thanks Libra, will pop over now.
I'm not a childminder no, although I was many moons ago

Tbh my mood is not being helped the fact that shifts aren't as easy to change as my mum first suggested they would be, and I also hadn't realised that everytime I am on an early my mum is going to stay over the night before.

Utterly selfish on my part as she doesn't have to have the kids at all I know, but she lives 5 min walk away so i'd thought she'd just walk round here 5 min before I leave or something.

One of my shifts is a Friday early and my mum can't have the kids as she will have done a night. My mum said i'd be able to change it as I am supernumanery for the first few weeks, but apparently I can't change it because it will mean there are 3 MCA's on one shift then, which I really don't get as I am not supposed to be being counted.
So, now I have to work out what to do that morning.
Options are a)Kids stay at xp's on Thursday night and he gets then up and ready for school. I am really not happy with that option at all.
b) I get kids up and ready and drop them at xp's at 6:30 .

I just knew this wouldn't go to plan.

Focussing on the practical things will make life easier initially such as having enough uniform ready ahead for those days you are working shifts, doing all reply slips for school in one batch, shopping for non- perishables or long dated items ahead and finding a shop near where you are working to pick up perishables as and when you need to top up.

Is there no overlap on shifts for your mum to do Friday mornings ? Presumably it isn't permanent that you are on that shift so dropping kids to xp for the night may be the most sensible option short term, then you won't have to worry about the school run or rush them or yourself. Once you start there may even be another trainee who would swap it.

In the meantime don't be so hard on yourself. It will be a learning curve for everyone, you will occasionally screw up , but it can and will work out. Think of somethign nice to do at the end of your first week as a "reward". good luck
