Suggestions for my new career?

My life will change drastically in about three years. I need to think about what I will do work-wise, and any training I should undertake. Can I give you a brief synopsis of my experience/interests and can you give me some careers I might investigate in the New Year. Grateful for ANY suggestions. Twill give you something different to think about.

10 years as a civil servant. 3 years part-time as a call handler for emergency doctor service. 3 years as a one-to-one LSA. Bookkeeper (SAGE-trained) for my husband's business. School governor. Voluntary helper at church luncheon club for OAPS.

Interests: reading, writing, special needs children and their social lives, organising social functions, administrating virtually anything (being bossy in other words). Also seem to have acquired quite a bit of knowledge of medical negligence, and probate.

Please don't suggest I investigate lapdancing. I have too much of the necessary equipment and could knock out a grown man if I spun too quickly.

Thank you. Secondary teaching is worth investigating (I have had my fill of little 'uns). I shall look into Paralegal.

The care sector is booming - and I don't suggest for one minute you would want to be a hands on support worker for long, if at all, but there is lots of training on offer and management and assessment posts are freely available at what can be good rates of pay - especially with local authorities. I tried law lecturing for a while and investigated teaching, but I now have a very rewarding job and better remuneration than teaching, ( well teaching without being head of department etc.) running a home care service for a charity. Don't know how old you are but there is certainly no age discrimination in this sector.

I am the right side of 40 - 41.5 to be precise. I consider this to be the right side, so sad for all you thirtysomethings.

Have added it to my list. Elderly care strikes a chord (perhaps in connection with my OAP work). Feel the system could be much kinder for both them and their families. Maybe some kind of advocacy for elders.
