Maternity leave cock-up

Help! I'm due to start maternity leave on 2 Jan and was told today that my HR department (which is outsourced) has lost my MATB1 and will not process my application!

The local GP/midwife won't give me another certificate, anyone know how this will affect my leave/benefits?

You need you MATB1 - I think employers need to send it to Inland Revenue. Why on earth are they refusing to give you another? I'd complain to the GP practice manager. My company lost mine and I got a replacement from my GP with no fuss...

I'm not sure how the HR department losing your MATB1 is your problem tbh. Although they do need it to claim back your SMP they can't say they won't process your maternity leave - are they suggesting you just stay at work?!

What reason are you being given for not giving you another one?

I mean what reason is the midwife/GP giving you?

Update: my consultant wrote me a new certificate, but still no further!
