Coming to end of fixed term contract during Mat Leave...pay question?

I may have gone over this in my first thread a while ago on this board, but I'm just looking for some clarification, if you will!

I am leaving work for maternity leave in April, Baby due May and fixed term contract coming to an end in June - they won't be retaining me.

Because I've qualified for SMP will it automatically run for the 9 months (well, SMP then OMP)? Where does it come from? The employer? If so, will they be paying me and I'll not be working for them? Or does it come from the Govt?

Help! I think I am right in saying that because I've qualified for SMP it'll just run like that. Am I right?

Thanking you in advance.

Cfc. x

Yes. Once you've qualified for SMP it's yours even if you leave employment. Your employer pays it although you are not employed by them, and then they claim it back.

Thanks very much for that, had a bit of a panic there for a minute! x
