pls help - maternity pay advice!

pls help if you have any knowledge of legal/HR maternity rights! Just had scan which gives me date of 2 weeks earlier of estimated due date of birth compared to what I thought based on my last period. I am v tall though & ds1 was large.
Problem is this earlier date means won't be eligible for mat pay or right to my job back as quite new in post! I know of course it's not as bad as health problem in scan, and relieved all okay, but am really getting stressed over this and not sleeping due to money/job worries. Can I argue that they stick to my estimated due date in my records and therefore that midwife puts this on my MatB form so that I have some hope of mat pay?

Can you discuss with your midwife? My scan due date was different from the due date given by the doctor, and different again from the one given by the midwife. But it was the midwife's one she put down on the form. I think the scan ones are very vague, based on size and not necessarily the same as the due date worked out with the calculator from last period etc.

My scan gave me date of 5 days later then doing it via LMP. Midwife still used LMP date on MATB 1. So, maybe?

thanks, am trying to contact midwife soon . guess all depends on her then. Problem is there's big difference - 2 weeks and was told in that case they'd have to go on their dates.

I had my LMP date on the MatB1 originally then had it altered after the scan, I was lucky that both dates fell within the time span I had been at my job just long enough. So I can understand your panick.

As the midwife does the MatB1 just ask her nicely. The hospital revised my due date after the first scan and then again after my second scan so your Midwife should be fine with it.

Feel right now that my sanity as well as overdraft depends on it (though just possibly influenced by chronic lack of sleep & pregnancy yo-yoing of hormones!)

Really depends on your midwife
mine was very nice and just playing the poor suffering pregnant woman who's about to flip because of financial worries would have done the trick.

Otherwise just tell her that you are 100% certain when your last period was and that's the date you want her to use as your first child was big as well, i.e. scan might be misleading

How far are you? Is this a nuchal scan or a 20 weeks scan. Once you get as far as 20 weeks, the scan dates aren't very accurate. My due date was changed based on the 20 week scan in my first pregnancy. I now think they were wrong. But, that's history.

Definitely argue to the hill that the LMP dates should be used. If not, can you go get a private scan and have possible due dates re-evaluated privately? Fetal Medicine Centre are wonderful (but a bit pricey).
