When do you need to fill in your tax return?

Hi,

I registered as SE in june this year. When do I need to complete my first tax return?

The tax year rund April to March. Tax returns being completed now are for April 07 to March 08 so you won't need to do one until this time next year.

and then if you do it on line it wont be due until January 2010

Jan 10 at the latest, but best to do as soon as possible after 5 April.
What year end are you using?

do you think so CS cashflow wise isnt it better to file it as late as possible?

cash wise it makes no difference, if you are self employed then the payment is due at the end of Jan, and then payments on account that same Jan and Jul. Regardless of when you make the return.,

Really I never knew that I thought you had to pay when you filed the return!

no, no, no
trust me - I do this for a living. Better to do it asap (even if you don't file till Jan) so you know it is done, what you have to pay etc.
