Advice on Tax-efficient Payroll Solution Please

I'm seeking locum employment for the next 6 months and have been offered various options of tax-efficient payroll solutions:

1. Income plus services as a soletrader, 3% fee: www.income-plus.biz
2. Dover Green www.dovergreen.com

a. self-employed subcontractor, gross payment option 5% fee b. Intelligent Salary Service (ISS)- PAYE Umbrella Scheme, 4% fee

I am completely new to the various options relating to the tax system and would really appreciate some help and advice.

Can someone legally minded shed some light on the various tax efficient options please?

Are you a self-employed consultant Sylvie? Not sure I understand why you'd need to use any of these companies tbh? If you're self-employed, I'd save money if I were you, register yourself as self-employed with HMRC and send your own invoices rather than pay someone else to do it.

If you will be working for the same employer while doing your locum work, you will probably not be self-employed anyway. Have a read here about different types of employment to work out which you'll be.

I think other than that, your best bet would be a discussion with an accountant that specialises in self employed consultants/sole traders to talk you through your options for being tax efficient. I would be very surprised if paying another company to invoice for your services would be the recommendation.
