I want to be able to hand an envelope of receipts and a stack of remittance advices (from my agent) to an accountant who has lots of experience with freelancers. I want to be sure they are saving me all the money I am due whilst operating entirely legally. Anyone out there or know of anyone? Preferably in London/south east.

Er, frightfully, but that is also because I am a Limited Company, so that hoicks it up. I am grimly anticipating handing over about, oh hell, a grand.

I am freelance illustrator and when I lived in London had a good one based in Hammersmith - fees seemed quite reasonable..he also looked after my freelance father's accounts

'Kin 'ell, that is a lot. Thanks for these. My agent has given me a few names. I'll start there.

Turns out the ones my agent reccommends are all based in Soho and charge like wounded buffalo.

Morticia and MI if you would be kind enough to CAT me or post details of yours I'd be really grateful.

Hi, I used to be a freelance scriptwriter (it all died when I had kids, though am hoping to get started again). I had a good accountant based in Golders Green - think the company is called Lachman Smith - my husband's an actor and he's with them too. Always been good and reliable. From what I remember the charge was around £400 to hand them receipts etc and them sort your tax return.

Am really curious to know what progs you've been writing for. I used to write for Family Affairs, the cheesy channel 5 soap.

I am a accountant that works from home I use this site here You post your job on there and people bid for the work then you choose who you want to do it! that way you can get a good deal (do remember to check their references though if you decided to use it)

theirmum · 03/11/2008 23:42

umm that is the wrong site here

Thanks theirmum. I am flat out at the mo but going to contact a good friend's accountant who isn't far from me in South London.

Thanks to everyone who has helped/emailed me with all this.

TiffanyAMB I'm writing lots of animation at the mo. And do other kids stuff and try and get comedy stuff developed. Good luck getting started again.
