Can I change my mind about returning to work?

I've given notice to return to work in 5 weeks time on 10th November when DS will be 7.5 months old. Feeling quite unsure about my decision - can I change my mind and stay on maternity leave for longer?

I may be wrong but I think you need to give 8 weeks' notice to change your date. If that's right, you could still try to negotiate it

Yes it's supposed to be 8 wks notice, but your employer may or may not waive their right to notice this long.

I think you probably can as long as you give 28 days notice of your intentions (and within your full maternity leave entitlement). More information here. Have you given written notice of your return to work?
